Have you ever experienced that incredible flow of productivity when you’re completely “in the zone”? The moments when all distractions vanish, and you feel positive, energized, and fully engaged in what you’re doing? I bet the answer is a resounding yes!
But what if you don’t love your job? Imagine coming home after a positive day at work…..How different would your life be if most days were filled with positivity at work?
Recently, a client reminded me of the incredible power of authenticity in generating and sustaining success. It was truly awe-inspiring to witness how being authentic in our thoughts, feelings, and actions can transform our lives.
Let me share a remarkable before-and-after story:
Before: A new client, whom we’ll call Fred, sought my guidance after a successful military career but felt lost in his search for a fulfilling career. He had just been let go from a sales job he disliked due to a company acquisition and a tough month of sales. He was uncertain about his next steps, applying for jobs that he wasn’t really interested in, and feeling lost and confused.
The Process: We delved into what made Fred successful in the military – what he did, why he did it, and how he felt about it. Through this exploration, we identified his core values and what mattered most to him. It became clear that he thrived in leadership roles, enjoyed mentoring others, valued teamwork, and was fueled by focused action, which he described as feeling “driven” – his top value.
The Result: Armed with this newfound clarity and authenticity, Fred became motivated and energized. He approached his career/job search as an opportunity to embody his authentic self.
Fred’s approach was simple yet profound. He targeted companies aligned with his values and used the mantra “WWDFD” (What Would Driven Fred Do) to guide his actions.
And the outcome? Not surprising at all. Fred swiftly landed a role that was an excellent fit for him and has been excelling ever since. He’s exceeding sales goals, spearheading the development of new services, and building strong relationships that create loyal customers and peers that know Fred has “got their back”.
The shift was remarkable – he found joy and success at work, positively influenced his colleagues, and showed up every day happy and driven.
But the impact extends beyond the workplace. Fred shows up fully present, positive, and ready to help others in all aspects of his life, setting an inspiring example for everyone around him. He could now afford the wedding his fiancé dreamed of, act in a way that he is proud of, and be a leader at work and at home!
As a coach, witnessing transformations like Fred’s fills me with tremendous joy and purpose. His story will inspire countless others, and I’ll proudly share it with current and future clients, knowing that Fred’s journey will continue to impact lives far beyond his own.
